SMART Advocates is a project designed to train individuals who have the passion to engage in effective advocacy to address the grass-root conflicts established in 2019 to build a better Sri Lanka. The core-objective is to bridge the gap between the communities and the local authorities to address the grass-root conflicts - that are neglected to solve as a collective.
The tailor-made training programme is designed by a group of young people who engage in peacebuilding, and reconciliation works in Sri Lanka transforming conflict through technology. Media Literacy to counter hate speech and misinformation, Technology for effective solutions, and Digital Peacebuilding are the core components of the training module.
- 180 Individuals from Sri Lanka have been trained, and taking action for hate speech, and misinformation on social media platforms.
- 60 individuals have established the alumni as SMART Advocates Network.
- 11 Initiatives established by the trained trainees.
